About me

Throughout high school, I have loved studying history. I've learned that much of propaganda from the 20th century was made using screenprints, so combining my preferred medium and topics of interest seemed the perfect union. Many of the figures in my work have been influenced by the people I am studying in my European History class (The King of Wives, Good Queen Bess, Faith Alone). Throughout this year, I have worked to try and represent different figures throughout history through one portrait-style image of them and a motto or brief quotation.

Since most of my work has been screenprints, I’ve had time to revise my process so my prints appear more cohesive and clean. I have grown since my first screen print portrait of the year, Miles Romanus, in knowing how much screen filler to use to prevent any spotting. For my lino of Maya Angelou, I was really inspired by Hecho con Ganas and their use of incorporating the text into the portrait. For screenprints, I have been taking inspiration from Shepard Fairey.
